Derrick E. Mobley is a member of the South Carolina, and U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina Bars, respectively. Mr. Mobley is a graduate of Hampton University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. While attending Hampton University, Mr. Mobley was named Mr. South Carolina for the South Carolina Pre-Alumni Association, a member of the American Marketing Association, and participated in intramural sports.

After graduating from Hampton University, Mr. Mobley returned to South Carolina, and began working within the telecommunications industry for approximately 2 ½ years. Subsequently, he decided to return to college to pursue a law degree from the University of South Carolina. While attending law school, Mr. Mobley was involved with various student organizations, such as, BLSA (Black Law Students Association), and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. In addition to his involvement with the various law school societies, Mr. Mobley worked at the South Carolina Court Administration (Judicial Department) while finishing his law degree. His work at the South Carolina Court Administration involved re-classifying, re-categorizing and interpreting approximately 3000 criminal statutes into a data base to be utilized by judges, solicitors, and attorneys throughout the state.

Upon graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Mr. Mobley worked as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Alison Lee of the Fifth Judicial Circuit. During his time as a judicial law clerk, he was responsible for drafting memoranda, communicating with court room adversaries, and performing legal research. Following his employment as a judicial law clerk, he began working at the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulations (legal division).
Mr. Mobley became an accomplished trial attorney while working as an Assistant Solicitor for the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor's Office. As an Assistant Solicitor, Mr. Mobley prosecuted cases involving major drug crimes (i.e. trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, distribution, possession), Murder, Felony D.U.I. resulting in death/injury, Hit & Run resulting in death/injury, and D.U.I. with some going to trial and resulting in guilty verdicts with Mr. Mobley as lead prosecutor. In addition to being a trial attorney, Mr. Mobley has been a frequent speaker for the South Carolina Prosecution Commission on trial and litigation matters. Furthermore, Mr. Mobley has assisted instructors from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy with training various law enforcement agencies in the art of accident reconstruction, and/or expert witness testimony.
